EXOTIC- PADAUK
The urns in the "Athens" series are
crafted of non-endangered exotic wood using fundamental techniques. The particular wood
species is padauk (pronounced pa-DUKE) which is indigenous to Africa and noted for its
dense grain pattern and vibrant orange color; Concentric rings are cut in the sizes and
angles required to achieve the overall shape. They are joined together and meticulously
hand-sanded to a luxuriously smooth texture. The pieces are not stained; they are sealed
with five coats of urethane and a
final application of paste wax. No color or grain patterns are ever identical.
