CERAMIC-HANDCRAFTED & THROWN
The urns in the "Riverstone" series are hand crafted and thrown. The lids and bases, which are created individually, are burnished (polished) by hand to the smoothness of a river stone before a terra sigallata (liquid earth) glaze is applied. This glaze becomes the canvas for the flame-painted landscape.
The sagger firing technique uses combustible materials such as bark and natural fibers to create the random landscape patterns, muted colors, & contrasting light and dark shades on each piece; no two are ever identical.
