CERAMIC HAND-CRAFTED AND THROWN
The urns in the "Horizon Mist" series are hand crafted and thrown. The lids and bases, which are created individually, are burnished (polished) by hand to the smoothness of a riverstone before a terra sigallata (liquid earth) glaze is applied. This glaze becomes the canvas for the flame-painted landscape.
The sagger firing technique uses combustible materials such as bark and natural fibers to create the random landscape patterns, muted colors, & contrasting Light and dark shades on each piece; no two are ever identical.
The companion piece has one compartment for commingling the cremains of two individuals if desired.
