CERAMIC HAND-CRAFTED
The urns in the "Mooresque" series draw their inspiration for form and design from influences of 8th century Moorish basket weaving. The pieces are hand crafted and carved in an intricate and time-consuming process in order to achieve the woven appearance.
A dramatic contrast between a lustrous light-tone crackle glazing at the base of the urn and a rich matte-black finish on the upper portion of the urn is accomplished using the raku firing technique. A gold metallic glaze between sections of the woven areas provides an elegant accent to complete each piece.
