DOMESTIC - MINERALIZED POPLAR
The urns in the "Alleghany" series are crafted of domestic wood using fundamental techniques. The wood species is mineralized poplar characterized by streaks of purple, green, black and yellow which can be either bold or muted. These colors result from rich mineral deposits in the soil.
Concentric rings are cut in the sizes and angles required to achieve the overall shape of each piece. They are joined together and meticulously hand-sanded to a luxuriously smooth texture. The pieces are sealed with five coats of urethane and a final application of paste wax. No color or grain patterns are ever identical.
